We Should Stand up for God

“If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king.  But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up” (Daniel 3:17-18).

Central Theme:  God wants us to stand for Him every moment of the day.

Introduction–Some things–like chocolate–are good enough to share.  However, there is one thing that we can share with others that will radically change their lives.   I want to have the courage to stand up for the thing that will radically change the life of others.  Have a member read Daniel 3:17-18.

I.     Briefly, tell the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego found in Daniel 3.

A. They would not compromise even when it meant that they would die.

B. They were willing to die to stand up for God.

II.     Standing up for God may put you at risk.

A. They didn’t do a lot of talking; they were willing to just stand.  They were standing up when they should have been bowing.

B. Each of us will need to stand for God at dangerous times.

III.     How do we stand for God.

1.  You don‘t have to say anything just don‘t join into sin.

2.  Be firm when people ask you about God.

3.  Tell them the truth about what God has done for you in a simple way.

Conclusion      God wants us to stand up for him not matter what happens to us.
