God wants you to be a Encourager

I Thessalonians 4:18

Central Theme:  God wants us to have the courage to encourage others .

Introduction–There is something that will change people’s lives that you can do.  It is very simple.  It won’t cost you a penny.  It will make you feel better.  It will change your life as well as others.


I.     Have a member Read I Thessalonians 4:18.

A. Tell the story of Deborah and Barak from Judges 3.

              B.      Deborah encouraged Barak to do the right thing.

C. God’s people were saved from an evil king.


II.     Encouragement changes people and maybe even history.


A. Who should I give encouragement to?  Everyone.

1.  Your friends and family.

2.  Your enemy and people who do bad things to you.

B. How do I give encouagement?  It’s easy and simple.

1.  Say, “You look nice today,” and mean it.

2.  Say, “You are doing a good job,” and mean it.

3.  (Give other examples.)

C. Always be sincere in your compliments.

D. Give compliments liberally


III.     Learn to practice random acts of kindness and love.

A. Tell people you don‘t know that they are doing a good job.  Cashiers at Wal-Mart or the person who helps you at a fast-food restaurant.

B. Let people know that you appreciate their work.


Conclusion–When you encourage others, you become part of God‘s plan for that person because God wants blessing and goodness to fall to everyone.
