The cake is gone. The love for Jesus is everlasting.

Today we celebrated Valentine’s Day with an I LOVE YOU, JESUS cake.  At the end of the program, the cake was completely gone.  Hope our members love Jesus as much as they love cake.  the Book of Acts tells us that the church grew in prayer, fellowship and teaching.  We should never forget that fellowship is as important as any other thing that we do in our ministries.  This is the devotion I gave.

My Father’s House

Call to Worship: Today, a Savior, who is Messiah the Lord, was born (Luke 2:11)

Jesus made a whip out of cords and forced all of them, both the sheep and cattle, to leave the Temple.  He turned over the tables and scattered the money of those who were exchanging it (John 2:15).

When we come into the house of God, there is a need for reverence and calm.  We say to people, “Don’t run in God’s house.”  We ask people not to get too loud, shouting and being disrespectful.  Even here at an agency, this is because God’s house is a holy place because God’s people have come to worship God and to learn about him.  We should treat it with reverance. Have a member read, John 2:15.

     I.     Jesus went into the temple with his disciples.  There he found some things that disturbed him.  (John 2:13-17).

            A. The priests had set up tables where they sold cattle and sheep.  They sold doves, also.

            B. But there were also tables where people could exchange their money for “temple money.”  This was like tokens that you get at the fair or at Chuckie Cheese Pizza place.  The people would buy the tokens but they would only get 50 cents worth of tokens for a dollar bill.  They were being cheated by the priest.

            C. Jesus made a whip and cleaned out the temple.  The disciples were impressed.  The priest were very angry and demanded that Jesus do a miracle to prove that he had the authority to clean up the temple.

  1. Jesus was sad of the priests’ cheating the people.

A. There will be times in your life that you will need to stand up for something that is wrong. At times you may be scared but other times you will have great strength to do the right thing.

  1. We saw in the shooting in Arizona a lot of people are surprised to be called heroes.  They say, “We only did what any other person would have done.”  They responded to a bad situation by helping because God gave them the strength.

III.  God will help us at times with supernatural strength and we will do the right thing.

            A. At times of crisis at Special Gathering and at work, I’m always amazed at how you have learned that it is important to continue to do things normally.

            B. You have learned that sometimes the best thing that we can do is stay out of the way.

Conclusion:  Jesus cleaned out the temple and that was a good thing to do.  God will give you wisdom about what to do when it is needed.
